Abstract

The California Gnatcatcher is widely known to be strongly associated with coastal sage scrub, yet it does not occupy all stands of this highly variable vegetation type (Kirkpatrick and Hutchinson 1976; Westman 1983; O'Leary 1990; Atwood 1993).
